Join the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund on April 13, 2022 for a 45-minute virtual presentation on the state of law enforcement traffic-related fatalities and hear from Assistant Chief Thomas Didone (retired) on the “Myth Busters” style video on seat belts that was created at the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Center. Wil Price, Highway Safety Specialist at the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), will provide the introduction to this webinar. The panelists will hold a Q&A session following their presentations to conclude the webinar.

Wilford Price

Since 2006, Wil Price has served as Highway Safety Specialist in the Enforcement and Justice Services Division at NHTSA. In his position, he works closely with national law enforcement professional organizations and oversees the national Law Enforcement Liaison Program. After retiring from the Tempe (AZ) Police Department, Wil became a passionate advocate for traffic safety, with an emphasis on preventing injuries and deaths of law enforcement officers in traffic-related incidents. His experience in developing and managing complex projects supports his efforts to build programs and relationships, while seeking opportunities to continuously innovate and improve the programs he manages. Committed to the idea that public service is the highest calling, Wil understands that advancing officer safety is a mission that never ends, and that the loss of law enforcement officers has wide-reaching and permanent impact on communities across the country.

Thomas Didone

Assistant Chief Thomas Didone is a second-generation police officer who served 35 years with the Montgomery County (MD) Department of Police. In July of 2021, he retired from Montgomery County as the Assistant Chief of the Field Services Bureau. Didone was the department’s Traffic Safety Advocate and is their foremost authority on traffic-related matters. He is a nationally recognized expert in the field of traffic safety and a member of the distinguished IACP Highway Safety Committee. In his career, Assistant Chief Didone has presented more than a dozen national conferences; worked closely with several government agencies to help develop traffic-related policies and laws at the local, state and national level.

Nick Breul

Nick Breul is Senior Project Manager at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and is the former Director of its Officer Safety, Wellness and Research Division, where his team did in-depth analysis of line of duty deaths, especially traffic-related causes. Before joining the NLEOMF, Nick was the Director of Security for the Washington National Cathedral. Prior to that, he served on the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) of Washington, D.C. for 26 years. Breul worked in many capacities during his career on the police department, including managing the department’s Traffic Safety Branch. There he oversaw the Major Crash Investigative Unit, as well as all of the traffic focused enforcement and public safety education initiatives. Nick is a graduate of Hobart College and still serves in the capacity of Departmental Historian for the MPD.
