Police Officer Brent Nelson Hall was killed in a single-vehicle crash. Officer Hall may have suffered a medical emergency causing his patrol vehicle to accelerate and travel at a high rate of speed, striking a utility pole. Officer Hall is the 23rd officer to be killed in a traffic-related incident this year and the second officer fatality from the state of North Carolina in 2021.
