On January 29, 2025, Federal Flight Deck Officer Campos was killed in an aircraft crash when the plane he was on was struck by a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter. The crash resulted in the death of Officer Campos and 66 additional passengers and crew members. Officer Campos was on-duty, serving as a deputized federal law enforcement officer for the TSA’s Federal Air Marshal Service, performing the role of an in-flight security officer.
