Police Officer Garretson was shot and killed while investigating a suspicious person call. He and another officer made contact with the suspect who lied to the officers about his identity. The officers attempted to detain the suspect, who then fled on foot. The suspect then turned and fired upon Officer Garretson and he later succumbed to his gunshot wound.
