Senior Airman David Jones, Senior Airman Marion Pace, Staff Sergeant Richard Bohling, and Sergeant Thomas Meredith died in a helicopter crash while en route from Whiteman AFB to a launch facility near Passaic, Missouri to provide aerial escort duty. The UH-1 Iroquois helicopterÂ’s main rotor blade dipped out of position and struck the tail of the aircraft, which caused the aircraft to break apart. The officers were members of the 352nd Missile Security Squadron at the Whiteman AFB in Missouri.
