On May 5, 1929, Deputy Sheriff Pescatore was shot with his own gun when he responded to a domestic disturbance call. As Deputy Pescatore attempted to quell the brawl that was occurring, one of the family members took the deputy’s gun. A second man took the weapon and the gun discharged, striking Deputy Pescatore. Deputy Pescatore was transported to the hospital where he died of his injuries nine days later on May 14th. The suspect was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to five years in prison.
