Officers honored today at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in DC. More than 300 names were added and read aloud. Most of those names were people who died in the line of duty in 2019. This event would normally be packed with 30,000 people, but today’s service was streamed online. Those there say officers faced countless challenges on the job. Officers just don’t die at the hand of firearms. They die going to calls, driving to calls and other circumstances. The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial is running out of space for new names, a problem they didn’t expect to face for decades. The Memorial will be expanded to make more room.
