Honor Guard Events

May 11-16, 2022

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) offers several opportunities for law enforcement honor guards to participate in National Police Week.

Honor Guard Cordons

Honor Guard Cordons takes place during the Candlelight Vigil on Friday, May 13, 2022. As current year survivors are led from their buses to the seating area, they walk through honor guard cordons. Each cordon rotation is 30 minutes in length. The first shift starts at 5:00 pm and the last at 7:30 pm. The Candlelight Vigil begins at 8:00 pm. If you wish to participate in the Cordon for the Candlelight Vigil, on May 13, please arrive at 4:00 pm to sign up for a time slot. The Honor Guard tent will be located between 4th and 7th and Madison Drive.

Stand Watch for the Fallen

Following the wreath-laying at the Memorial on Sunday, May 15, 2022, honor guards will stand watch for 10-minute intervals. The first shift begins at 2:15 pm and the last at 11:50 pm. If you decide to sign up for the last time slot, please also have a member able to play TAPS. After TAPS is played, the wreath is taken to the Survivors’ host hotel in Alexandria, VA.

Honor Guard Reception at the Museum

This year, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund is hosting a reception for honor guard members to thank you for serving in these roles as we respect, honor and remember our fallen officers during National Police Week 2022. The reception is scheduled for Thursday, May 12, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the National Law Enforcement Museum. Beer and wine and refreshments will be served. The reception is at capacity so we are no longer able to accept RSVPs.
