College and Career Advancement Fair

The Criminal Justice College and Career Advancement Fair connects high school students, prospective undergraduates, and current law enforcement professionals with colleges and universities offering criminal justice–related programs. The event provides a focused recruitment and professional development environment where attendees can engage directly with admissions representatives, explore undergraduate and graduate pathways, and gain inspiration from the Museum’s mission-driven setting. The program also supports workforce development by positioning the Museum as a hub for education and career advancement within the public safety field.

Innovation and Technology Careers Fair

Dive into the broader ecosystem of careers supporting public safety beyond sworn law enforcement roles at the Innovation and Technology Careers Fair. The event brings together technology companies, nonprofits, government agencies, and professional associations to connect attendees with emerging career pathways and innovative tools shaping modern policing.

Through interactive exhibits and demonstrations, participants gain exposure to fields such as digital forensics, cybersecurity, analytics, and public safety technology, while exhibitors benefit from direct engagement with a targeted, mission-driven audience.

Shared Impact: Collective Trauma, Officer Wellness, and the DC Sniper Case
October 24, 2026

In conjunction with the Museum’s new exhibit, Without Warning, Ending the Terror of the DC Snipers, this panel discussion explores the lasting psychological and community-wide impact of one of the most significant public safety crises in the Washington, DC region. Shared Impact brings together mental health professionals and law enforcement leaders to examine how the 2002 sniper attacks shaped collective trauma across the DMV—and what lessons can be applied to modern policing and community wellness.

Through expert insight and lived experience, the program will explore how prolonged, high-profile incidents affect not only the public, but also the officers tasked with responding under intense pressure. By connecting the historical case to contemporary practices, the discussion will highlight how law enforcement agencies can better understand trauma, support officer wellness, and contribute to broader community healing.

Media, Technology, and the Evolution of Response – Lessons from the DC Sniper Case
Nov. 11, 2026

In conjunction with the Museum’s new exhibit, Without Warning, Ending the Terror of the DC Snipers, this special event brings together media professionals, law enforcement public information officers, and technology experts to explore how the response to major public safety incidents has evolved since the 2002 attacks. By examining both the role of media and advancements in policing technology, the program connects past events to present-day practices and future possibilities.

Using the DC sniper case as a central point of reflection, panelists will discuss how the investigation unfolded under intense national media attention and how communication between law enforcement and the public was shaped in real time. The program will also highlight how law enforcement-media relations have significantly evolved over the past two decades, including the rise of digital communication, social media, and coordinated messaging strategies. The program will also address the balance between innovation, privacy, and public trust, creating space for thoughtful discussion on how these tools are implemented responsibly.
