U.S. Capitol Police Officer William Evans was struck and killed, and another officer injured after a man drove a car into a security barricade at the Capitol complex. The suspect was killed during the incident after brandishing a knife. Officer Evans is the 20th law enforcement officer to be killed in a traffic-related incident this year and the fifth officer fatality from a federal agency in 2021.
