End of Watch: March 24, 2019

Deputy Sheriff Peter Herrera was shot multiple times on March 22, 2019 during a traffic stop. Deputy Herrera was shot as he approached the car and asked the driver to step out the vehicle. Deputy Herrera was transported to the hospital and succumbed to his gunshot wounds on March 24, 2019. Deputy Herrera is the 15th law enforcement officer to be shot and killed this year and the third officer fatality from the state of Texas in 2019.
