End of Watch: April 18, 2019

On April 18, 2019, Police Officer Kyle Olinger succumbed to complications stemming from a gunshot wound he sustained on August 13, 2003. Officer Olinger made a traffic stop and one of the occupants reached for a gun and shot Officer Olinger in the neck causing him to become paralyzed. The suspect was sentenced to life. Officer Olinger is the first officer fatality from the state of Maryland in 2019.
