Public Safety Officer Jackson Ryan Winkeler was shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop near the airport’s terminal at Florence Regional Airport in South Carolina. The suspect fled the scene but was later captured. Officer Winkeler is the first officer to be shot and killed this year and the first officer fatality from the state of South Carolina in 2020.
