Corporal James O’Connor was shot and killed while serving a homicide warrant. A suspect shot Corporal O’Connor from behind a closed door on the second floor of the home. Corporal O’Connor was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his gunshot wound. Corporal O’Connor is the 10th law enforcement officer to be shot and killed this year and the first officer fatality from the state of Pennsylvania in 2020.

  5. I am so sorry to Corporal O’Connor’s immediate family as well as his fellow officers. It hurts me when I learn of an officer’s death. Thank you is so inadequate for what you do for us–the people you don’t know, never knowing if you will return home after your shift, but they are the only words I have to let you know you are there when I and others have needed you.

  8. I knew this officer personally. He was not only Philadelphia police officer, he was also realtor in his spare time. He chose to work hard for his wife and family. He loved the job and the officers he worked with. I called him one day out of concern because the SWAT team was involved in a standoff, he was not working that day, but said he wished he was to “support my guys”. He’s the best example of dedication and sacrifice. I pray that you are at peace, I know your watching over your family and “your guys”.
