Deputy Sheriff William Garner was struck and killed after responding to a single-vehicle crash. As Deputy Garner assisted the occupants of the single-vehicle crash, he was struck by another vehicle and was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Deputy Garner is the 28th law enforcement officer to be killed in a traffic-related incident this year and the fourth officer fatality from the state of Georgia in 2020.
