Detective Marylou Armer succumbed to complications from COVID-19 that she contracted on-duty in her capacity as a detective. Detective Armer is the first California law enforcement officer to die in the line of duty from COVID-19 in 2020. The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund recognizes that our officers on the front lines are increasingly vulnerable to contracting the COVID-19 virus, and we are committed to performing the research required to determine how COVID-19 is impacting line-of-duty deaths.
