Deputy Sheriff Adam Gibson was shot and killed, along with his K-9 Riley, after a shootout Monday night. Deputies pulled over a vehicle they suspected was involved in prior burglaries. The suspect also shot and wounded another deputy who is in serious but stable condition. The suspect was hit by gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene. Deputy Gibson is the 4th law enforcement officer to be shot and killed this year and the first officer fatality from the state of California in 2021.
