A Rewarding and Noble Profession

Thomas Petito

Thomas Petito
Lieutenant, New Jersey Divsion of Parole

Hello everyone! My name is Thomas Petito. I am a retired law enforcement officer from the State of New Jersey. I served with the New Jersey Division of Parole, a statewide police agency that, along with its parole function mandate, works closely with the various federal, state, county, and municipal police organizations. I entered the law enforcement profession primarily because of the deep sense of civic responsibility instilled in me by my late parents. To that end, I pursued this career to help others, to make a meaningful contribution to society’s well-being regardless of the profession being one of the most dangerous, demanding, and stressful. This varied and challenging vocation, along with its unique brand of camaraderie, make it a most noble pursuit. Having the ability to stop a crime before occurring, to deliver a victimizer to justice, to help others, and to do everything possible to keep everyone safe was immeasurably rewarding.
