Master Police Officer, Fairfax County Police Department
My name is Richard Henry and I am a Master Police Officer with the Fairfax County, Virginia, Police Department. My father and uncle were Detectives with the New York City Police Department. I watched my family serve their communities as they arrested offenders and protected the innocent. They were able to make a difference in the lives of New Yorkers on a daily basis and formed lasting friendships with many of them. Their actions inspired me to become a police officer and I realized that goal in January of 2000. It is a humbling experience to help a citizen in a moment of crisis or despair. My career has enabled me to be of service to more people than I could have imagined. I am honored to be remembered in this Museum because of the law enforcement officers who serve with distinction every day, have retired from this profession and those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. I continue to be diligent and take pride in my work in their honor.
