Hi, my name is James Lisa. I joined the NYPD in 1992 when I was 23 years old, because I wanted to serve my community. One thing that surprised me about being a police officer is that I’d never expected to deliver two babies during my 20 years of service. I’m sharing this because I want my community to know that being a police officer is not just about enforcing laws – we are there to help as well. I’m so honored to be remembered in this Museum, because of all the officers who did not return at the end of their tour. Those officers are the real heroes.
