Serving The Community

Stand With Honor

Scott Hobbs

Public service was always important to me. That’s why I became a police officer in the community that I grew up in. I’m a sergeant with the Bridgewater Township Police Department in New Jersey, and this is my 25th year of service. Now, I’m looking forward to retiring in March of 2018.

Thinking back on my career, I can say that one of the most important and fulfilling positions I’ve had was as a school resource officer for 10 years. During that time, I implemented programs that directly impacted students, parents and teachers, and I found ways to let those people see that police officers are human beings that want to help and serve the community.

Even though I have been out of the schools for almost 10 years, I still try to reach out and interact with the community – which I feel is very important during these difficult times for law enforcement. I never get tired of seeing the look on little kids’ faces when they meet me and look at me as if I’m a superhero.
