Officer Bernis Carr Jr, DC Metro PD, was the first LODD during my time “On the Job”; having sacrificed his life the day I began my career. I was motivated daily to perform my duties courageously and with honor in order to respect his sacrifice. He, along with the other 7,142 LEO’s killed in the line of duty during my 41 year career, will forever be honored and remembered. May God bless these American Heroes and their families.
