Police Officer Burdette was attempting to arrest an impaired suspect at a dancehall when he collapsed. Officer Burdette had responded to the dancehall several times that evening to restore order and had ejected the same impaired man for boisterous behavior. Upon his return, Officer Burdette arrived to witness the impaired suspect again acting in a boisterous manner and was escorting him out of the dancehall when he collapsed. Officer Burdette died at the scene before medical help arrived.
