Volunteer Photographer Applications

National Police Week 2024

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

Volunteer as an official Photographer with the National Law Enforcement Memorial and the Museum for the 2024 National Police Week. Volunteering is an opportunity to meet new people, share new experiences, and give back to the National Law Enforcement community!

As a special thanks for your generosity, all Volunteer Photographers will receive a complimentary NLEOMF shirt and photographer pass to wear while photographing.

ABOUT POLICE WEEK 2024:

Each year, hundreds of names of officers killed in the line of duty are engraved on the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC. These names are then read aloud during the annual Candlelight Vigil to memorialize those who made the ultimate sacrifice. 2024 will mark the 36th Annual Candlelight Vigil, on Monday, May 13th on the National Mall in Washington, DC.

STEPS, REQUIREMENTS, and FAQ:

  • WHO CAN VOLUNTEER AS A PHOTOGRAPHER? Anyone with a camera! If you are passionate about photographing – whether you’re new with the camera or work professionally – we want you to apply! The final roster of Volunteer Photographers is limited and will be selected by our Lead Photographer and notified via email. If you aren’t selected, please know there are other opportunities at the Museum and Memorial in DC throughout the year and for next Police Week, so please check back on the website for other opportunities to photograph!
  • DO I HAVE TO WORK THE WHOLE WEEK? When you submit your volunteer form, you’ll be asked to provide your availability and events that you prefer to capture. From there, our Lead Photographer, Keelyn Mitchell, will select photographers and establish a finalized schedule that works for everyone.
  • WHAT HAPPENS TO MY PHOTOS? Final edited photos will need to be delivered to the Lead Photographer within 72-hrs of event(s) captured. All approved photos will be shared publicly on the official NLEOMF Flickr page for the public audience to access. Upon sharing photos, the photographer is granting the NLEOMF a single use, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the images. NLEOMF may not sell, rent, lease, or sublicense the photos to any other companies or entities, but may use the photos in digital and print media. Any photo use will be credited with the photographer’s name.

IMPORTANT DATES:

  • The Volunteer Photography Form will remain open until Friday, April 19, 2024.
  • Our Lead Photographer and Coordinator – Keelyn Mitchell – will confirm the finalized shooting schedule with the approved Volunteer Photographers by Friday, April 26, 2024.
  • There will be a mandatory (virtual) Volunteer Photographer meeting the week of April 29. You can submit your availability via the form below.

QUESTIONS? Submit the form and include any questions in the notes area at the bottom. Our Lead Photographer, Keelyn Mitchell, will be in touch.
