Officer Callemyn was killed in a single-car automobile accident while responding to back up another officer on a traffic stop. While responding, Officer Callemyn lost control of his department vehicle and struck the concrete underpass on Interstate 70. Officer Callemyn was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
