On July 15, 2023, Police Officer Ferguson was shot and wounded during a foot pursuit of a suspect who fled the scene after a traffic crash. The suspect pulled out a shotgun and fired upon Officer Ferguson and he succumbed to his gun shot wound the following day on July 16, 2023. The suspect has been charged with several felonies.
