On the morning of May 2, 2017, Corporal Hust assisted two law enforcement agencies in the execution of a search warrant, at a residence where methamphetamine was produced. Other officers involved experienced severe headaches that continued into the following day. Corporal Hust complained of feeling ill before going to bed. Corporal Hust experienced breathing difficulties while asleep and was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
