Deputy Sheriff Sloan was killed in an automobile crash when his patrol car collided with the rear of a semi-trailer as the truck was turning off of the highway. Deputy Sloan was en route to the state hospital with a patient, the father of the patient, and a second deputy. Deputy Sloan was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The passengers in the patrol car sustained slight injuries.
