You are forever honored for your service, not only as an American Veteran, but also an Officer of Wabash Valley Correctional Facility. You always did your job to the best of your abilities with pride and honor. You may be gone but never forgotten! We as your family are Proud of all you have done for so many. We miss everything about you and wish we could have said a final goodbye. Please know how much we love you and always will. You now have six and one half great grand kids who are learning about you and how great your love would be for them today. The kids and grandkids are honored and proud to share their experiences with you, so that all generations know and remember your love, and the pride you had for your family, God and Country. May you from this day forward rest in peace, your loving wife and family.

Michael Pennington

I sat with Mike during our multi-jurisdiction Va Criminal Justice training academy in 1980; he Prince William County, me Fairfax County. Mike was ambitious, smart, fit, and eager to support his citizens. Four years later I had just moved on to a Federal Agent position when Mike was killed. I learned he was entering the home of a barricaded mentally ill person holding no hostages when the subject fired a shot entering just below Mikes Kevlar helmet & above his ballistic shield. In retrospect it seems if tear gas had been projected into the home instead of the SWAT team Mike might be enjoying a retirement now. God bless his soul & the lives of his wife and son.

John Stayrook

John was a man of great integrity who loved supporting the community, his colleagues, friends and family. Within his work ethic he treated everyone equally, i.e. the way he would want to be treated. His success was based on his ability to talk to people without any sense of condensation. He was deeply committed to his position 24/7. He was always the first one to offer help to anyone who needed it. He had a winning smile that matched his gregarious personality. He could be larger than life or just like the average person. He had the keen ability to make people open up to him and tell the truth, once they got past his imposing stature. His life was centered on his family and serving the community. He was fiercely protective of his family. A grand storyteller with a great sense of humor, he had the ability to make everyone laugh with the twists and turns of his stories. His love of life revolved around his family and his professional commitment, no one could fill his shoes.

Dear Mike, When you died 8/27/21, your brother Dan and I also died inside. We miss you so much. You wear an amazing man, son, brother, nephew and cousin. Anything that you set your mind to, you accomplished. You were a Fireman, EMT, Chiropractor and a Police Officer. You adjusted people for free if they didn't have the funds to pay for their treatment. You went up to New York at 911 to help anyone who needed an adjustment and never asked for anything in return. You were upset that the other Chiropractor who went to New York with you called the newspaper when you two returned to Cherry Hill and had an article published. You called me to tell me why you were upset. You said "Why couldn't he have just gone to help out of the goodness of his heart without having to get his name in the paper. Michael, you gave from your heart always. I love you so much and everyday is difficult for me and your brother. Your cousins miss you, your Aunts miss you. Happy Birthday 5/16/2023 in heaven.

Dennis, I'll always remember you as the strong, funny one. The one who had Commander Tom back yard Carnivals for Muscular Dystrophy, because you knew how important it was to help others in need. As we grew you continued to fight that battle. You could make anyone smile, but were there to help anyone in need. You found and befriended a gentleman who became a brother to you. He helped you get your final arrest for night, his heart was broken as was ours. We know God had other plans, plans to keep you safe in his arms. Miss and love you, your sister, Elaine The wicked flee when no man pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion. Proverbs 28:1

She got into her #1 pick of schools with a scholarship, and she is going to prom with a very nice young man you would have really liked. I've gotten things taken care of around the house and made a few changes you would have given me a hard time for (lol). Your birthday is coming up so it's going to be a difficult weekend. Three years without you and it all still feels surreal. I keep looking at the back door waiting for you to walk in and tell me how your day at work was. We miss you, we love you. K&H
