Compassion and Sacrifice

Ernie Morris

Ernie Morris
Detective, Limerick Township (PA) Police Department

My name is Christine Morris, and I want to tell you about my husband Detective Ernie Morris. What makes him an outstanding detective is his understanding and compassion for victims. His focus is on Sex Crimes and Juvenile Crimes, which can take a toll on any officer, but I see how his victims need him. He has such care and compassion for the victims and often remains in contact with them and their families long after the case has been closed. He has been known to sneak out on Christmas Day to deliver gifts to those he has encountered, who he knows were having an exceptionally difficult holiday.

In 2014, our family became the victims, when a neighbor burned down our house as retaliation against Law Enforcement. The Arsonist’s son was a drug addict that my husband had tried to help.

After losing everything, my husband was asked at sentencing if he would have done anything differently in regards to trying to help the Arsonist deal with her son’s addiction. His response was that he wouldn’t have done anything differently; he was trying to be a neighbor and hoped things would turn out better for him.

His answer exemplifies who he is as a person and why he is an outstanding law enforcement officer.
