I Wouldn’t Change a Thing

Stand With Honor

Eugene P. Gioia
Captain, Arcadia (CA) Police Department

My name is Gene Gioia. I feel privileged and honored to have been born and raised in the City of Arcadia, California, and to have been able to serve our citizens of Arcadia for over 31 years. Arcadia is a city of 56,000 people located in the San Gabriel Valley, about 16 miles northeast of Los Angeles. I began my career as a Police Cadet in 1979. Over the following 31+ years I served in numerous capacities. Highlights include 13 years on our SWAT Team, serving as a Team Leader, and attending the FBI National Academy, Session 227, in 2006. I retired in 2011 as a Police Captain. My story is simple. I lived my life with honor, respect toward others, honesty, integrity, and character. I feel very fortunate to have served along side many fine public servants. I always had the support of my wife and family, which I am eternally grateful for, and I thank God for keeping me safe throughout my career. Matthew 5:9 states, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” I truly feel blessed and looking back on my career I wouldn’t change a thing. Lou Gehrig said in his famous farewell speech, “I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth.” I echo that sentiment.

Love and peace to all,

Gene
